Government shutdown or long-term continuing resolution? Federal contractors ‘haven’t priced it in yet,’ expert says

Federal contracting companies have come to terms with the fact that the new fiscal year will begin next month with a congressional stopgap budget measure.

And with Congress reconvening Tuesday with little progress toward passing a budget, none seem too concerned that a so-called “continuing resolution” — a temporary budget measure that freezes spending levels at the previous fiscal year — will have a major impact on their business. Last month, for example, the CSRA Inc. CEO Lawrence Prior told analysts on a quarterly earnings call that “we’ve gotten used to CRs” with how common they have become in the congressional budget process.
