  1. Here’s a note I just left for Kent Hoover who wrote this article:

    Hi Kent,

    As an fyi, the difference between the total (decreased) small business awards in FY11 versus FY10 is actually smaller than the reported award dollars made to “other than small” companies during FY11 via the Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Half of the $16 billion awarded in FY11 using this streamlined purchasing method was awarded to non-small businesses according to FPDS-NG.

    The Simplified Acquisition Procedures are the very thing newly confirmed OFPP Administrator Joseph Jordan referenced in his June 6th memo (issued with SBA Administrator Karen Mills). In bold print it states: Maximizing Opportunities for Small Businesses Under the Simplified Acquisition Threshold.

    The question I asked in previous blogs and articles is “Would federal agencies meet their small business goals if Simplified Acquisitions were set-aside for small businesses?”

    Looks that way to me.
